Mission Statement

A child-centric, agriculturally based farm program to cultivate developmental, social and emotional  skills for brighter futures.  

Goals

To teach and cultivate through inquiry, discovery  and project based learning the skills needed to achieve a better sense of one’s self through agriculture.

Curriculum



“The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.”


Learners will complete  5 thematic units under the guidance of The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Themes

  • Agriculture and the Environment
  • Plants and Animal for Food, Fiber & Energy
  • Food, Health, and Lifestyle
  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
  • Culture, Society, Economy &  Geography A curriculum matrix of over 300 leveled lesson plans will serve as the resource library for all relevant learning materials.

Additional Units

Learners will participate in the  University of Maryland’s Extension program: Food Supplement Nutrition Program (FSNE).

UNITS: 

  • Growing Healthy Habits This curriculum is geared towards helping younger learners develop an appreciation of fresh vegetables while exploring the growing process
  • Healthy Kids Out of School This curriculum  is designed to encourage physical activity and healthy eating habits
  • DIG IN! This curriculum is a ten lesson standards-based nutrition education program that establishes active and engaging connections from science  to math to nutrition  and literacy


PROJECT: 

Learners will also choose a project appropriate for the season.


This entails programmatic aspects from concept, procurement, production, profit/loss, completion/sale. A record book will be completed and presented.
